Correction: I originally posted that this was 17th annual run. I believe that this is actually the 18th year of the event.
I had been looking forward to the Red Dress Run for several weeks. This is a fun event that benefits numerous local charities. The event is organized by a drinking club called the New Orleans Hash House Harriers. According to the organizer’s website, they raised almost $200,000 for over 60 charities in the New Orleans area last year. In addition to some 8,000 people who paid the $60-$70 registration fee, the event also attracts thousands of other people who just come to the French Quarter with their red dress on, which helps the local merchants. Those who pay the registration fee have the honor to participate in the official run (or stagger) and also includes: beer, food and live music at Armstrong Park.
