When deciding where to go for the 4th of July this year, for us it was a no brainer. The French Quarter, as it often does, offered free entertainment from local artists. This year, Amanda Shaw and her band The Cute Guys performed across from Jackson Square. She performed for an hour & 45 minutes non-stop on a very hot and humid day. I don’t think I could have walked that long in that kind of heat without taking a break.
This former child prodigy, and Louisiana’s little darling, is all grown up. Amanda is talented, energetic, vivacious, and has a style that is all her own. She tours nationally and internationally, but performs locally on a regular basis. If you have never seen Amanda perform, or you haven’t seen her in a while, you should make the effort. You will not be disappointed.
Amanda Shaw and The Cute Guys are scheduled to perform this coming Wednesday, July 25th at the Wednesdays on the Point , which is a free summer concert series that runs from June 6 thru July 25th every Wednesday from 6-9PM. The concert is on the west bank of the river at the ferry landing in historic Algiers. If you are in town, you can take a short, and free, ferry ride to the concert.
